Mr. Wolfgang Kropp, CEO of «SVEVIND Energy GmbH», presented its green hydrogen projects to the Kazakh Prime Minister Mr. Askar Mamin

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Wolfgang Kropp, CEO of «SVEVIND Energy GmbH», met with the Prime Minister Mr. Askar Mamin during a meeting with other CEOs of German companies and the Eastern Committee of the German Economy. He presented SVEVIND’s projects to produce green hydrogen and green ammonia in the Mangystau region in Western Kazakhstan.

In particular, it is planned to implement a project to operate wind and solar power plants of about 30 GW with the subsequent utilisation for the production of approx. 20 GW of “green” hydrogen and green ammonia in the Mangystau region.

At the roundtable meeting, the Prime Minister and the German companies discussed the state and prospects for implementing joint projects in the areas of renewable energy, gas processing, agro-industrial complex, mechanical engineering, mining, and metallurgical industry etc. The Head of Government noted that Germany is one of the largest trading partners and key investors in Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev, Minister of Energy Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev, Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund JSC Almasadam Satkaliyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Germany Dauren Karipov and others.

SVEVIND has been developing and realising extra-large scale onshore wind power projects in Scandinavia since 1998. The “Markbygden 1101” cluster of connected wind farms in Northern Sweden, west of the city of Piteå, is the largest wind farm in Europe, having already reached the 1 GW milestone of operational wind turbines earlier this year while an additional 1.5 GW of wind turbines are under construction. In June 2021, SVEVIND signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazakh Invest National Company JSC confirming its support for SVEVIND’s project pipeline of 30 GW of green hydrogen projects in Kazakhstan. In July 2021, SVEVIND signed a memorandum of understanding with the Akimat of the Mangystau region regarding the cooperation between the Akimat and the company to support SVEVIND’s project pipeline of 20 GW of green hydrogen projects in the Mangystau region in Western Kazakhstan.
